About the C31 Class

The Cape 31 is a High Performance 31 Foot Race Boat. Conceptualised by Lord Irvine Laidlaw, designed by Mark Mills and built by licensed boat builder Cape Performance Sailing. The boats are built in Cape Town where there is a healthy one design fleet. This latest generation sports boat usually sails 7 or 8 up, with an owner driver/amateur driver and a mixed crew of amateurs and professionals.

The boat has proven itself as not only a great one design boat, but also as a highly competitive boat under multiple rating systems, with some very impressive results that include two time overall winner of Les Voiles de St Tropez and a 1,2 and 3 at the UK IRC Nationals.

Another great feature of the Cape 31 is that she (along with her 2 piece mast) easily fit into a 40ft container…. this comes in handy when you have the beautiful shores of Cape Town or the Caribbean awaiting you, while they also now have a ’tilt trailer’ option, that allows legal towing all around the Globe…. particularly handy for sailing in the Med!!

Mojo

Layout

“The French design team of Berret/Racoupeau has come up with this new aft-cockpit yacht with a futuristic cabinhouse profile that is sure to turn heads when it is introduced this fall. Dual steering stations provide clear access to the transom, and the composite arch overhead gets the mainsheet out of the cockpit and provides support for the bimini top.”

Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 44i

Equipment

3 Cabin, 3 Toilets with shower, 2 refrigerator, burner stove with oven, microwave, air conditioning, Radio, Wind meters, Depth/Speed Gauge, Autopilot, Radar, Generator, VHF, GPS

About the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 44i

The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 44i is a cruising boat with a fractional sloop rig, a raked stern, a reverse transom with a swimming platform, an internally mounted spade-type rudder controlled by dual wheels and a fixed fin keel with bulb.

In a 2010 review for Cruising World, Jeremy McGeary wrote, “overall, the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 44i demonstrates that this is about the optimum size for a cruising sailboat: You can cut up the interior to accommodate up to six crew in relative luxury, the sailhandling isn’t daunting without power winches (although the test boat did have them), the hull has long enough legs to give it a good range within a day’s sail (and the 63 gallons of fuel, prudently burned, should deliver perhaps 400 miles), and the boat is big enough not to feel small in a blow.”

The i stands for injection moulding.

Boater’s Notes

Sailing school boat, well maintained, in fully operational condition. Causeway Bay mooring available for rent or sale.
