About Beneteau’s Sense line

Launched in 2010 and considered revolutionary in its time, Beneteau’s Sense line was first referred to under the acronym LAO, “Living Aboard Open”. The idea was to combine a racing style (twin helms, beamy hull, open transom) with plenty of room in the cockpit for entertaining and living accommodations that aren’t buried deep in the hull. On the hull side, the 43’s hard chines and large beam reduce heel while underway, increasing stability and delivering a comfortable sail. Down below, her 6.4 ft headroom and  airy, spacious accommodation with plenty of unobstructed views display all the qualities the cruising public has come to expect only from catamarans. The Sense 43 will appeal  to those who want catamaran-style social spaces in a monohull boat that sails well, is very stable and easy to handle.

Boater’s Notes

Very well kept and maintained, this racer-cruiser is one of the most presentable sailing yachts on the Hong Kong market. Waxed, polished and kept under an integral boat cover at all times, she looks half her age. Sold with her 10ft AB aluminium hulled tender.  Must see.

Sula

Forward cabin

Generously roomy twin berths, unlike many boats these berths are not perched high up, you can comfortably sit on them with both feet on the ground and read a book. The port berth can be converted into a comfortable double. All berths have lee boards which conveniently stow away when not required. Huge amount of storage in lockers above the berths and on the forward bulkhead, deep drawers underneath and stowage below the cabin sole. Fold-up table on the aft bulkhead. Large forward opening deck hatch makes for a light and airy cabin. Electric fan heater, 220V and 24V power outlets. A pair of privacy doors separate the forward berth from the passage outside the forward head. This area has a very large storage compartment to starboard.

Forward head

Large head with shower, deep washbasin with large mirror above, manual flush sea toilet with holding tank, teak grating on sole, mirrored medicine cabinet for toiletries, large amount of storage space in outboard wall lockers, large towel rail rack, pull out drying rack for washing. Pressurised hot and cold water to shower and sink. Opposite the head (starboard) is a large hanging locker with storage underneath. The head is separated from the salon by a water tight bulkhead and door. As such the forward cabin and head makes up a private suite. Note the head discharge pipes are all straight and vertical, consequently build-up of sulphur deposit is minimised.

Salon

To port is a large African mahogany salon table, with finely upholstered horse-shoe shaped settee which comfortably seats six. Under the table is a wine rack. The inviting settee opposite the dining table (starboard) has two large, deep drawers underneath. The table extends to this settee to provide comfortable dining for eight. The padded back rest for this settee acts as the lee board for the slide-out pilot berth behind it, there are further storage cupboards above this berth. Hella fan and privacy curtain for the berth. Above the table is a large, opening deck hatch and running down each side of the cabin top are long non-opening ports, again a light and airy cabin. Beneath one salon settee is a very large freezer (24V) or fridge (it can be operated as either at a flick of a switch). Underneath the rest of the salon seating is storage. All walls of the salon have enclosed storage cupboards. The entire salon sole is made up of storage compartments (dry). This is the ships wine cellar. In the middle of the starboard side cupboards is an entertainment centre housing an LCD TV with room for VCR, DVD along with DC and AC power. The salon has air-conditioning and an electric fan heater.

Galley

This galley is very popular with the cooks because it is so ‘social’ as the cook can take part in any social gathering whilst cooking. Starting forward on the  centre line behind the settee the tile-inlaid work top runs outboard to the hull, broken into three areas by fiddles, underneath are storage cupboards, drawers and the washing machine.  Outboard at the top of the U, is a gimballed two burner stove with oven, above this is a microwave.  Also above the cooker is an air extractor, opening port, Hella fan and underneath the cooker is an air conditioner outlet.  Continuing around the U, now facing aft, the tiled worktop continues with front opening refrigerator and more cupboards underneath, almost on the centre line is a double fibre glass sink with drainer and below the dishwasher, back-up fresh water foot pump and more storage cupboards.  The galley contains a huge amount of very accessible storage space and it works well in all conditions.  Everything is to hand, there’s always somewhere to put something down securely.  It’s a short, easy reach from the galley up the companionway into the cockpit.  As in all the boat the entire cabin sole below the galley is dry storage.

Two burner gas cooker and oven
Microwave New 2020
Refrigerator (24V) – front opening
Large top opening chest freezer or fridge (24V)
Washing machine
Dishwasher
Generator and water maker controls
Double sink and drainer, with pressurised hot and cold water. Back up foot pump. New tap 2020
Seagull drinking water filter replaced Fen 2020
Vacuum cleaner

Navigation station

To starboard and opposite the galley at the foot of the companionway are the nav station and wet locker. The instrument panel of the nav station is designed in three modules. Each module is a removable rack; undo one simple thumb screw and you can pull out the entire rack mounted instruments and access wiring etc, it’s a delight. Fitting new instrumentation is a cinch (replacement teak facia are easy to fit when replacing old instruments with new).
The large chart table takes Admiralty charts folded in half, there is voluminous flat chart storage within the table. Two drawers under the chart table hold all the bits that accumulate around a nav station. Two large cupboards below the drawers provide further storage. A drop down storage shelf above the chart table is designed to hold a laptop, modems etc and provides secure stowage leaving the chart table free of laptop and clutter whenever required.
The Multi-function chart plotter display is mounted above the chart table and is comfortably visible from the helm position (as is a laptop screen on the chart table). Wifi is available from the chart plotter to enable a repeater function to an IPAD (not included) in the cockpit. To the right of the nav station is a large wet locker and above this is a large shelf and book rack.

Pilot’s berth

The best sea berth on the boat. Full length berth with ample storage lockers above. Teak lee board quickly and conveniently stores away when not required. Hella fan, reading light, opening port to cockpit, hanging locker for clothes. Underneath the berth is the glass fibre, watertight, vented battery compartment.

Aft owner’s cabin

Separated by a watertight bulkhead and door is the aft owners suite. Starting on the starboard side and going clockwise around the cabin is a large hanging locker space, followed by teak desk with swing out stool then corner settee followed to port by the double berth and finally the en-suite head with a full length mirror mounted on the door. Storage is abundant- underneath the berth, built in cupboards above the berth, desk and settee and underneath the cabin sole. Again the bed is low, comfortable and easy to access. Two leeboards which divide the berth for sea use, are stowed conveniently to hand. Underneath the sofa seat is direct and easy access to the rudder stock and the linear drive Autohelm unit. Lighting is via a wall light and personal reading lights. At the foot of the bunk is a large opening deck hatch, running down both sides of the cabin top are long non-opening ports and above the cabin entry facing forward is a port which opens into the cockpit making this a very light and airy cabin. This cabin has its own air conditioner and electric fan heater. As throughout the entire boat all paneling is beautifully crafted in flame cut African mahogany giving a quality and luxurious ambience.

Aft head

Large head with shower, deep sea going wash basin with large mirror above, manual flush toilet with holding tank, mirrored wall mounted medicine cabinet, large amount of storage space in wall lockers, large towel rail, pull out drying rack, built in steel safe.  Pressurised hot and cold water to shower and sink.  Opening port provides excellent ventilation.

Finishes

The interior is finely finished throughout with a beautiful flame cut African mahogany veneer producing a very high quality and luxurious ambience. The joinery is of the highest standard, equal to many luxury yachts costing twice the price. All cupboard doors have secure and refined catches, all drawers likewise secure shut and run easily and smoothly. All drawers are made of solid wood and cupboards are lined with heavy, short pile fabric.

Much joinery and trim can be easily removed by simply unscrewing it and lifting it off so hidden cable runs etc are easy to implement.

All cabling runs through either dedicated conduit (e.g. behind the head lining) or through easy access channels. Main salon and galley sole is think plywood finished with striped teak veneer the remainder is carpeted.

All surfaces in the boat are either covered with thick, short pile fabric, painted or varnished. Amel simply do not leave unfinished surfaces, even when they are hidden!

All ports opening and non-opening have tracked curtains and tie backs.
Headroom is 6′ 4″ or better throughout except for the passage way running aft to the owners cabin. This passage has been kept lower to keep the centre cockpit low.

All seat covers are removable and machine washable.

The Super Maramu contains many carefully thought out systems, all are easily accessible for maintenance and repair. For example winch bases and motors are accessible in seconds via removable panels in the deck head of the pilot berth.

Above deck

Bow

Great anchoring and line handling space with double rollers and anchor wash. Large centre cleat, two smaller side cleats with fairleads. Electric windlass with chain counter, controlled from windlass or helm. Two large bow lockers. To starboard is the storage locker for the ballooner/cruising chute. To port is the fender and lines storage locker – takes all fenders and lines and the kedge anchor. Both lockers are secured with screw down clamps and can be locked for security from inside the boat (no padlocks to rust or go missing). The chain locker is located beneath the two bow lockers. The twin poles and bay poles locate and secure in place on the gunnels.

Mast

Main and genoa halyard winches plus two topping lift winches for the downwind poles.

Cockpit

The centre cockpit is low and safe, you do not have the sense of being perched high up and vulnerable as you do on so many centre cockpit boats. At sea it is very easy to get tucked into a safe corner. Also unlike many centre cockpit boats this cockpit comfortably seats 8 people although we have had many more in it than that! Both cockpit seats have high contoured backs making them very comfortable, they are plenty long enough (and wide enough) for the tallest person to sleep on.

Two very large cockpit drains plus a pull up/down weather board in the companionway handle any boarding waves – extremely unusual.

The port cockpit seat lifts to access a vast cockpit locker which is large enough to almost be a berth!

All locker lids secure from inside the boat with tie down ropes. Two small dedicated lockers: one holds the mizzen ballooner sail and the other all the lines for the ballooner and poles plus other gear.

Deck shower with pressurised fresh water.

Hard dodger with opening window gives great protection to the helm and companionway. Side panels and a rear panel can be put up which create a completely enclosed pilot house – more useful in the tropics than one might imagine. All sail controls, bow thruster, anchor windlass, engine can be operated from the cockpit.

Two cockpit tables depending on the size of your party!

Access hatch to engine room

Construction

Wing keel epoxied and bolted to a very deep keel stub.

About SULA

The Amel Super Maramu is one of the best cruising boats ever built. She is designed for a couple to sail around the world. Her design has evolved over may years through hard won experience and miles at sea. There is a very good reason for every item on board and its design and construction is to the highest standards. Access to all machinery is of Super Yacht standard meaning things actually get fixed with ease when required. She can be easily single handed which is why she is such a safe 2 handed passage maker.

Sula was built in 1995. She has been regularly sailed and therefore also maintained and as a result most of her equipment and systems have been upgraded or replaced. She is in excellent condition. The most recent replacements being the Main Engine, the Generator, all navigation/communication equipment/electrics, carpets and Solar panels. She is the perfect platform on which to explore the Asia Pacific region in a very economical and superbly comfortable manner. The layout is as depicted below with 6/7 proper sized berths all having solid and secure lee boards to keep you in bed whilst at sea.

From the owners

Sula is reluctantly for sale due to a forthcoming move back to Europe and a smaller lift keel yacht that can be taken into the French canal system,  She has lived up to all the superlatives you can read about these boats, and more, having taken us from Scotland to Morocco and back, round much of Ireland and Scotland, and in Asia two extended cruises in the Philippines, all in supreme comfort.  She is itching for an extended Pacific cruise!  Her next owner will undoubtedly enjoy many 1000s of miles of safe comfortable cruising,   She comes with a full service history of all systems, and various spare parts and bits of domestic equipment to help you on your way.  She is in every way ready for her next adventure.” Graham B.

About Sirena Marine & Azuree Yachts

“Founded in 2006 by Kıraça Holding, Sirena Marine is a prominent manufacturer in the yachting and automotive sectors. Its initial supply agreement with Italian motoryacht producer Azimut-Benetti Group (which evolved into a joint venture in 2008) has led Sirena Marine to become the first batch produced yacht manufacturer in Turkey, counting more than 250 motoryachts carrying the Italian brand, and more than 100 sailboats with the Azuree and Euphoria brands – not to mention a few units crafted for the famous Nautor’s Swan brand – built to date.

Today, its expertise continues to grow in the development of the new ranges of Azuree Yachts in the company’s recently expanded facilities located in Bursa Orhangazi. All Sirena Marine product lines are manufactured in the company’s own Bursa Orhangazi facility, where 420 employees – including 80 engineers – work in a 155,000 square-meter area of which 35,000 square-meters are covered. By keeping all its manufacturing activities in-house such as stainless steel, furniture, teak and upholstery as well as all composite parts, the company is continuously accumulating experience and know-how, which has resulted in securing itself a place among the leading manufacturers in Turkey.

All the Azuree range hulls and decks are manufactured using the vacuum infusion method, combining today’s top technology with consolidated yachting craftsmanship principles.”

The Boater’s Notes

With her beautifully appointed interior layout and distinctively hard-chined planing hull, delivering exceptional performance and unique maneuverability, Lion Rock is a fast race-cruiser. Her carbon-hybrid hull and deck  help reduce her weight while  her extensive racing wardrobe delivers all the required power. Built to Cat 1 spec, she is also surprisingly comfortable. The owner is open to reasonable offers.
