Description

The main saloon has two benches, which will convert into two single berths, a dining table, a small galley with Fridge/cooler and a helm station. Down below, there is a double bed in the V-berth and heads with an electric toilet. Powered by a brand new Autralian-built Statstation 3 kW genset (2016), the 18,000 BTU Marine Cruiseair reverse cycle air con unit delivers cool and warm air all year round. The owner recently reupholstered all the fabric throughout the boat, also changing the Bimini fabric. Over the last 12 months, he has also been busy in the engine room, replacing the head gasket, the fuel injectors, the oil pump, the fuel loft pump, the heat exchangers, and the Bosch maintenance free 200a/hr batteries. He even went as far as repainting the whole engine room in white (sic) to keep an eye on all future potential drips and leaks. To keep his sturdy Ford Lehman in top condition, he only uses high octane fuel (thank you Fuegy !). SACHI gets her annual anti-foul treatment in the Wan Marine shipyard (Aberdeen), as well as a regular full osmosis treatment.

About Kong & Halvorsen

Founded in Sidney by Lars Halvorsen in 1925, Lars Halvorsen Sons Pty Ltd built more than 1,500 crafts over half a century, establishing the family shipyard as one of the most reputable in the Southern Hemisphere. In 1975, Harvey Halvorsen (third generation) started a joint venture with Joseph Kong, the owner of a highly successful wooden junk shipyard in Junk Bay (a.k.a. Tseung Kwan O), which at its peak employed more than 1,500 craftsmen. Together, they manufactured fibreglass sport-fishermen, trawler yachts and motor yachts, ranging from 30′ to 110′, which they marketed under the Kong & Halvorsen brand. In the early 80s, production moved to Mainland China. To this day, some 900 yachts have been launched under the Kong & Halvorsen name. The Sea Gipsy was one of their most successful and iconic models.

The Boater’s Notes

It’s not everyday that one steps onto a 1979 classic trawler yacht, feeling like it is brand new, with one caveat: they don’t build them like that any more. Lovingly restored and maintained by its pilot owner, this fine Sea Gipsy is part of Hong Kong yachting history (see below). The perfect week-end boat for Hong Kong waters, with history, elegance and fine craftsmanship to boot. She is licensed for 14 passengers and can can be sailed with a class 2 PVOL.
